“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.

Trump presented the FIFA Club World Cup Final trophy in 2025 when it was hosted at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Trump’s third major sporting event this year
This will be the third major sporting event Trump has attended in 41 days, after attending the NBA Finals Game 3 between the Knicks and Spurs in Madison Square Garden on June 8 and the UFC 250 event, which was held at the White House on the president’s birthday.
Both were stark contrasts to each other when welcoming Trump.
Many protested the idea of having the American leader attend the game in New York and he was met with some boos at the arena. However, the UFC event held at South Lawn saw some of the fighters give respect to 47th president.
It is hard to imagine the president’s appearance won’t be met without any controversy when the World Cup Final is held at MetLife Stadium July 19.
So far, Trump has not attended any of the World Cup matches, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio attended the U.S. opening match.

Infantino’s friend
At the World Cup draw, Infantino presented Trump with the FIFA Peace Prize at the World Cup Draw on Dec. 5, 2025, describing him as a “close friend,” according to The Athletic.
“He supported efforts to broker ceasefires and promote diplomatic engagement, actions that helped create conditions in which peace could take root,” a FIFA-produced video said before the award was handed out.
“This is truly one of the great honors of my life,” the U.S. president said on stage. “And beyond awards, we saved millions and millions of lives.”
Do country leaders always award World Cup trophy?
While FIFA delegates generally present the trophy, there is no policy against country leaders awarding it instead. In fact, it has happened in the past.
Some of the most notable trophy presentations featured Queen Elizabeth II when she presented the trophy to the England champions in 1966, King Juan Carlos I when the 1982 games were played in Spain, and France President Jacques Chirac when he gave the trophy to France in 1998.
The last time the World Cup was hosted in the U.S., then-Vice President Al Gore presented the cup to Brazil.
