Deseret News photographer Tess Crowley was selected as the winner of the News Photography Award. The selection comes for her coverage of the Charlie Kirk assassination.
“High-quality journalism deserves to be celebrated, and we’re proud to recognize our honorees for producing some of the very best journalistic works of the year,” said National Press Club President Mark Schoeff Jr.

Crowley was one of 18 journalism entries recognized.
“Tess has repeatedly proven herself to be an extraordinary photographer, but her coverage of the Charlie Kirk assassination under an intensely high pressure situation, truly highlighted her immense value to our organization. We are incredibly proud to have her as a member of the Deseret News team,” Chuck Wing, Deseret News director of photography said. “Tess has consistently shown her remarkable talent as a photojournalist; nevertheless, her work during the tragic events at UVU involving Charlie Kirk emphasized her significant professional impact. The Deseret News is privileged to have such a talented person on our photo team.”
