“Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father. Every court proceeding serves as painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,” the statement said.

“We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received. This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives,” it continued. “Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask for continued privacy as we navigate this process and immense grief.”

His parents were videotaped walking into the Provo courthouse on Monday, where lines began forming at 4:30 a.m. MDT. Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, is also expected at the preliminary hearing.

Kirk, 31, who co-founded Turning Point USA, was killed on Sept. 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, the first stop of Kirk’s “The American Comeback Tour.”

Robinson was taken into custody on the night of Sept. 11.

For the next five days, the Utah County Attorney’s office is expected to bring forth its strongest evidence to prove to the judge that there is enough to establish probable cause that a crime was committed and that Robinson committed it.
