Ben Wilson captured medalist honors and the No. 1 seed for match play at the Utah Men’s State Amateur by shooting his second straight 67 at Soldier Hollow Golf Course Tuesday to finish at 10-under-par 134.
Wilson, an 18-year-old Corner Canyon graduate who has signed to play at the University of Utah, edged a pair of BYU golfers, Angus Klintworth and Austin Shelley, by two strokes.
After shooting a 67 on the tougher Gold Course Monday, Wilson matched that number on the Silver Course with five birdies and a bogey on the front nine for a 32 and two birdies and a bogey on the back nine for a 35.
Klintworth is a senior-to-be from South Africa, while Shelley is a recent graduate of Skyline High who has signed to play for the Cougars.
Shelley fired a 5-under-par 67 on the Gold Course Tuesday to finish at 136, while Klintworth, the first-round co-leader, shot a 70.
Five golfers, Jackson Mauss, Kenny Palmer, Jesus Castaneda, David Timmins and Parker Bunn, all finished at 6-under-par 138.
Mauss, who last year lost in the quarterfinals to his brother Bowen, the 2025 champion, fired a 66 despite making double bogey on the 18th hole.
Before that, he made six birdies and an eagle at No. 17 on the Gold Course. Bowen finished at 1-over-par 145.

Three golfers came in at 5-under-par 139, including Noah Moody, Brandon Robison and former finalist David Liechty.
Former champion Dan Horner was among a group of five golfers at 140, including Ty Brady, Noah Schone, Kanyon DeRyke and Stockton Penman.
St. George’s Brock Porter had the comeback of the day, shooting a 7-under-par 65 on the tougher Gold Course after a 77 in the first round to make the cut at 142.
The scores were higher Tuesday than Monday and the cut came at 3-over-par 147. Seven golfers will play off for the final three spots in the 64-player match play field Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
Those players include Krew Labrum, Preston Bridges, Dallin Anderson, Austin Bybee, Tylan Birchell, Jordan Paulson and Cooper Wayment.
Thirty-two matches will be played on Wednesday and two more rounds will be played Thursday to cut the field to eight quarterfinalists.
After two rounds Friday, two golfers will be left from the original field of 288 for a 36-hole final beginning Saturday at 8 a.m.
