When someone says, “I’m not OK,” believe them. Listen to that cry for help, support them as they come to you with that vulnerability, and let them know you care. Every life is precious and everyone needs to feel loved.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. We can do more to help save lives and stop something that is 100% preventable.

It is important to know the warning signs. Feelings of hopelessness, withdrawal from friends and family, giving away possessions, changes in sleep and eating are all signs to take seriously. If someone you know is experiencing any of these signs, reach out for help, check in with them regularly, have open and honest conversations about their thoughts and feelings. Don’t be afraid to say the hard things and ask the hard questions.
