Spider-Man has swung to a new record.
After nearly seven weeks in theaters, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has become the highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic box office, amassing a staggering $936.7 million — surpassing the long-held record of $936.6 million set by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“Doesn’t get bigger than this,” read a statement to the film’s official Instagram account. “Thank you to the fans for helping #SpiderManBrandNewDay make cinematic history — it’s now the highest-grossing domestic release of ALL TIME at the North American box office.”
“Brand New Day” already roared past $2 billion at the worldwide box office, with $2.4 billion in ticket sales, making it one of just eight films to cross the $2 billion mark.
Several stellar weekends at the box office already pushed “Brand New Day” past a series of other records, including the biggest box office opening of all time and the second-biggest global opening of all time — providing a much-needed burst of energy for Marvel Studios amid growing superhero fatigue.
After a nearly a decade of uneven box-office performance for Marvel, “Brand New Day” has broken a string of box-office records, overtaking “Avengers: Endgame” in several categories while coming remarkably close in others.

The “Spider-Man” films are the only non-“Avengers” films to rank among Marvel’s five highest-grossing films, underscoring the web-slinger’s enduring popularity and his role in the studio’s continued success.
Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige attributes the staggering box office success of “Spider-Man” with the enduring appeal of Peter Parker and the star power of Tom Holland — who is now the highest-grossing actor of all time.
“People can write about changing tastes, but as characters that grow and evolve through the decades, there are none better than the Marvel characters — and none better than Peter Parker,” Feige told Variety. “When you find an actor like Tom Holland to bring that character to life, it is the magic formula.”
