Her contribution to \u201cToy Story 5\u201d marks her 13th time writing a song for a film, as the Deseret News reported. <\/p>\n<p>The official music video for the song, \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You,\u201d already has more than 7 million views on YouTube. <\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s a *Toy* Story \ud83e\udd20<br \/>You knew it! I\u2019ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I\u2019ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/CRdhM5eLBt<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) June 1, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ahead of the film\u2019s release on Friday, McLachlan briefly reflected on her own \u201cToy Story\u201d moment and shared high praise for Swift. <\/p>\n<h3>Sarah McLachlan on Pixar films: \u2018They really know how to get you\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>McLachlan, the writer and vocalist behind tender and career-defining songs like \u201cAngel\u201d and \u201cI Will Remember You,\u201d said she considers Randy Newman\u2019s \u201cWhen She Loved Me\u201d \u2014 which was nominated for best original song at the 2000 Oscars \u2014 to be \u201cone of the most beautiful songs ever written.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was a great time,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI got to meet Randy Newman and hang out with him and perform with him at the Oscars, which was wild to be in that world. &#8230; I love Randy Newman, he\u2019s just got such a gift. And when you match a song like that to visuals, to Jessie\u2019s sadness and loss, you\u2019re just like, \u2018Oh!\u2019 I mean, Pixar does it brilliantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=2073\">\u2018It felt like a miracle\u2019: Sheri Dew and Dallas Jenkins on the path that led \u2018The Chosen\u2019 to a Utah film set<\/a><\/p>\n<p>That belief was further cemented years later, when McLachlan took her two daughters and one of her best friends to see the Pixar movie \u201cUp.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The emotional opening montage of that film, which shows the ups and downs of the lifetime relationship between Carl and his wife, Ellie, had McLachlan and her friend in tears. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re gutted, we\u2019re ugly crying. And my daughters are looking at me like, \u2018What is wrong with you?\u2019\u201d McLachlan said with a laugh. \u201cThey really know how to get you.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Sarah McLachlan praises Taylor Swift <\/h3>\n<p>McLachlan also reflected on the influence of Lilith Fair, her groundbreaking all-women music festival in the late 1990s that was the subject of a documentary last year. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt challenged a lot of norms, and I guess mostly I\u2019m incredibly proud of everything we achieved, of the community that was built,\u201d she said, noting that several female artists today like Swift and Brandi Carlile are keeping the spirit of that festival alive. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of different artists are doing this, just again lifting each other up, supporting each other. Taylor Swift, in this stratosphere of success that she has had, she\u2019s always finding a whole bunch of mostly women artists, and having them open up for her and essentially launching a whole lot of careers.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Later this summer, McLachlan will embark on her \u201cBetter Broken\u201d tour with special guest Allison Russell.
