{"id":2326,"date":"2026-06-20T21:09:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T21:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=2326"},"modified":"2026-06-20T21:09:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T21:09:06","slug":"hundreds-celebrate-juneteenth-in-salt-lake-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=2326","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds celebrate Juneteenth in Salt Lake City"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Hundreds of people gathered in Salt Lake City on Saturday to celebrate Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the day in 1865 when enslaved people living in Texas learned they were free, two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=2324\">Opinion: It\u2019s time to heal the hidden wounds of men<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Salt Lake City, events were held to celebrate the holiday, including a walk from the Utah State Capitol, as well as music, food, art and a Black Business Expo, which was first held in 2021 amid the pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you probably know, a lot of small businesses were failing at that time, but black owned businesses were specifically failing at an exponentially higher rate,\u201d organizer Cleopatra Louise Balfour told KSL. \u201cSo, we wanted to see how we can support the development of those businesses.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Salt Lake City\u2019s sixth annual Juneteenth celebration featured more than 60 vendors. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=2322\">Opinion: Utah audit reveals Medicaid dollars missing the bedside<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States was recognized across the nation, including in Galveston, Texas, where the historic event took place. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important.
