Since returning to office in 2024, President Donald Trump has brought in an estimated $2.2 billion, according to The New York Times. <\/p>\n

In 2025, the president made over $1 billion from crypto-related endeavors, a federal report showed. Of this, $600 million was made by his crypto business, CIC Digital LLC, that sold \u201cmeme\u201d coins with images of his face. <\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, on Wednesday, Trump said, \u201cI don\u2019t get involved in my personal … We have funds that run my money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump continued that his money is run by financial institutions that manage his money independently.<\/p>\n

In March, a Forbes piece estimated that Trump\u2019s net worth was $6.5 billion (including the $2.2 billion since 2024). His increased fortunes have brought criticisms of corruption by Democrats and other opposition. <\/p>\n

The Democratic House oversight committee says that \u201cTrump is making his family richer through digital grift schemes.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Trump and family have profited<\/h3>\n

As part of his crypto investments, Trump received upward of $500 million from World Liberty Financial, a business that sells crypto products. <\/p>\n

Since Trump sold off his share of coins and tokens, the crypto product\u2019s value plunged significantly. <\/p>\n

In addition to crypto, Trump has profited from Trump-branded phones, Bibles, and watches which have earned millions. <\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s family has also benefited significantly from investing in companies that aim to do business with Trump\u2019s administration. <\/p>\n

Politico reported that Trump\u2019s family real estate business has made its most rapid international expansion since the company was founded.<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s sons, Eric and Donald Jr., run the companies and have joined a number of other ventures that do business with the U.S. government. Of these ventures, they have gained stakes in armed drone companies. <\/p>\n

What is a blind trust?<\/h3>\n

In response to questions about his personal financial ventures on Wednesday, Trump said that his money was run through a blind trust.<\/p>\n

Western & Southern Financial Group defines a blind trust as \u201ca legal arrangement where the beneficiaries have no control or knowledge of the assets held within the trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

The tool is designed to prevent conflicts of interest for people in high-profile positions.<\/p>\n

Although Trump did place his assets in a trust, PBS reports that it is not blind. <\/p>\n

Daniel Weiner, director of Elections and Government at the Brennan Center for Justice, a nonpartisan law and policy think tank, wrote in a policy solution that Trump has \u201cmaintained ownership and effective control of his far-flung businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision,\u201d Weiner continued, \u201cbroke with norms to which his predecessors of both parties had adhered for more than forty years. But it was not illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Critics point to finances as evidence of corruption<\/h3>\n

The report adds to a growing list of concerns the GOP must face with the midterms in November.<\/p>\n

Trump has faced recent backlash for the war in Iran, inflation, and construction projects in D.C. The president\u2019s affairs have led to increased concerns and claims of corruption among detractors. <\/p>\n

Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., wrote in a social media post on Wednesday that \u201cTrump made $1+ billion from his crypto ventures while in office. \u2026 This grift and corruption is staggering. Accountability is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., wrote on social media that while Trump made significant earnings, \u201cmost Americans worked hard just to break even. This is the cost of corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other Democratic leaders have tied Trump\u2019s crypto dealing to corruption, which will likely be a major talking point for Democrats in November. <\/p>\n
