He has played for a great club in his home country of Lithuania and has learned how to play the game the right way because of it. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s got great positional size and a competitive edge to him that will fit in well with our group. We look forward to getting him on campus and getting to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-6, 19-year-old Buika played 21 games for Lithuania\u2019s Jonava Hipocredit this past season, averaging 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists with a single game-high point total of 14.<\/p>\n<p>Rated as a 4-star prospect by Rivals, Buika chose BYU over Illinois, Arizona and other notable programs.<\/p>\n<p>Buika has also spent time with \u017dalgiris Kaunas and represented Lithuania in a number of international competitions, including last summer\u2019s FIBA U18 EuroBasket tournament where he scored 12.0 points and grabbed 5.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=3442\">Opinion: Is AI the political \u201cDeath Star?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Here\u2019s a look at new BYU signee Dovydas Buika. Encouraging pickup for the Cougars. pic.twitter.com\/ZNecOCu00q<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jackson Payne (@jackson5payne) July 8, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe have been tracking Dovydas him for a few years and coming from \u017dalgiris, there are few clubs in Europe when a guy comes out of that system you know they are ready for high-level basketball and \u017dalgiris are one of those places,\u201d BYU associate head coach\u00a0Tim Fanning\u00a0said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a team captain of some very successful teams there. We love his versatility. He can play multiple guard spots.
