Friday is the 20th anniversary of his epic fantasy series \u201cMistborn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=3775\">Sen. Mike Lee says mail-in voting \u2018should not survive much longer\u2019 \u2014 with few exceptions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first book in the series, \u201cThe Final Empire,\u201d was released on July 17, 2006. <\/p>\n<p>Sanderson released his first book, \u201cElantris,\u201d in 2005, but a year later, \u201cMistborn\u201d was released. \u201cMistborn\u201d was the author\u2019s first series. Over the last 20 years, the series has continued to grow in popularity. <\/p>\n<p>The book\u2019s milestone isn\u2019t the only anniversary the author has celebrated recently: \u201cThe Final Empire\u201d was released 10 days after the author got married. <\/p>\n<p>Sanderson has released over 50 novels and has sold more than 50 million copies of his books worldwide. Here is a \u201cMistborn\u201d primer.<\/p>\n<h3>What is \u2018Mistborn\u2019 about?<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cMistborn\u201d is an epic fantasy story and part of Sanderson\u2019s fictional universe that many of his epic fantasy stories take place in. It is an interconnected universe and some of the stories share some characters. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThink MCU, but for a bunch of epic fantasy worlds, there are crossover characters, but the focus is more on the different cultures mixing and things like this,\u201d per Sanderson\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently seven \u201cMistborn\u201d novels, divided into two different eras, with more coming. Sanderson has planned for a total of four eras. The third era is currently in the works, with a planned release in 2028. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMistborn\u201d is set on the planet Scadrial, which has three magical disciplines that are all based on metals: Allomancy, Feruchemy and Hemalurgy. Specific metals are used by Invested individuals to give them unique abilities. There are hard rules to each of the three magical disciplines. <\/p>\n<p>The first era is a trilogy that tells a heist story and also includes political intrigue and action. This trilogy focuses on a group of metal-using magicians who attempt to overthrow their seemingly all-powerful emperor.<\/p>\n<p>The second era is comprised of four books and is often referred to as the \u201cWax and Wayne\u201d series is set 300 years after the original trilogy. The sequel series is a detective series that follows lawmen Wax and Wayne \u2014 both metal-using magicians \u2014 as they work to stop a criminal ring. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=3773\">Opinion: Utah parents need help protecting kids from predators<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The third era will be set in the early computer age and the final era is planned to be a space opera. <\/p>\n<h3>An overview of the \u2018Mistborn\u2019 books<\/h3>\n<p>The original trilogy is a \u201chybrid epic fantasy heist story with a focus on political intrigue and powerful action scenes,\u201d per Sanderson\u2019s website. Here are the books in the original trilogy:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cThe Final Empire\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Well of Ascension\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Hero of Ages\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There is also a novella that goes along with this trilogy titled \u201cMistborn Secret History.\u201d This novella is included in \u201cArcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection,\u201d a collection of epic fantasy short stories and novellas by Sanderson. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cMistborn\u201d sequel series, \u201cWax and Wayne,\u201d takes place in the same world as \u201cMistborn,\u201d 300 years after the original trilogy. Here are the books in the \u201cWax and Wayne\u201d series:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u201cThe Alloy of Law\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShadows of Self\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Bands of Mourning\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Lost Metal\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>A \u2018Mistborn\u2019 movie is in the works<\/h3>\n<p>Earlier this year, it was announced that Sanderson had made a deal with Apple to adapt both \u201cMistborn\u201d and his other series \u201cThe Stormlight Archive\u201d for the screen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMistborn\u201d will be adapted into a feature film with Sanderson writing the screenplay. He does regular updates on his writing progress and he is currently 91% done with the script. \u201cThe Stormlight Archive\u201d will be adapted into a TV series. <\/p>\n<p>The deal with Apple was finalized after the author met with multiple other studio heads. The deal gives Sanderson an unusual amount of control over the projects, including writing, producing and giving approvals. <\/p>\n<h3>The \u2019Mistborn\u2019 20th anniversary sale<\/h3>\n<p>In honor of the 20th anniversary of \u201cMistborn,\u201d Sanderson is doing a 20% off sale on everything Mistborn.
