The story included comments from the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce touting the city\u2019s vibrancy.<\/p>\n<p>The city, founded on July 24, 1847, as the part of the arrival of Mormon pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley. It became the territorial capital in 1856 and state capital when Utah achieved statehood in 1896.<\/p>\n<p>With a metro population population of 1,257,936 in the 2020, Salt Lake City proper \u2014 at 200,133 \u2014 is the 117th most populous city in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Salt Lake City is truly the \u201cbig\u201d city of the Intermountain West.
