CEDAR CITY \u2014 A lightning strike is responsible for a new wildfire that sparked west of Cedar City Friday in the area of Comstock Road and Desert Mound, police said.<\/p>\n

Multiple fire crews and law enforcement personnel have responded to one of the fires, dubbed the Mount Fire, and no structures are threatened, Utah Fire Info said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe fire is currently moving north up the ridgeline, and air tanker and firefighting aircraft are on scene assisting with suppression efforts,\u201d the Iron County Sheriff\u2019s Office said. <\/p>\n

The fire is burning on mostly BLM land but threatening private land nearby, fire officials said on the Utah Fire Info page.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is currently the largest recent incident caused by lightning in the area. There have been numerous other reported lightning caused wildfires,\u201d fire officials added.<\/p>\n
