Taysom Hill\u2019s time in New Orleans is officially over.<\/p>\n

The Saints\u2019 do-it-all star announced in a message on social media that returning to the only NFL team he\u2019s called home \u201cis not in the cards,\u201d while he shared a heartfelt thank you for the New Orleans community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still working through what comes next, but I couldn\u2019t move forward without taking the time to say thank you,\u201d Hill wrote. \u201cNew Orleans, you will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will always be cheering you on.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hill, who has spent his entire nine NFL seasons with the Saints, became an unrestricted free agent in March. With teams around the league reporting for training camp in recent days \u2014 New Orleans held its first practice Wednesday \u2014 Hill said he felt it was pertinent to address his situation. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve taken time this offseason to think carefully about what comes next for my family and me. I still don\u2019t have a clear answer about what the future holds, but I know that returning to New Orleans is not in the cards,\u201d Hill wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs training camp begins, I didn\u2019t want my silence to be misinterpreted, and as hard as it is to put it into words, I wanted to express my gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Saints franchise also put out a touching appreciation video, narrated by former teammate and friend Drew Brees, that called attention to what Hill accomplished with the team.<\/p>\n

Hill was a do-everything weapon for New Orleans during his time with the franchise, playing several positions on offense \u2014 from quarterback to running back to tight end \u2014 and also contributed on special teams.<\/p>\n

During his time with the Saints, Hill rushed for 2,551 yards and 34 touchdowns, while he also caught 110 passes for 1,034 yards and 11 more scores.<\/p>\n

The onetime quarterback who went undrafted out of BYU also completed 63.3% of his passes for 2,426 yards and 12 touchdowns in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Hill shared his appreciation for being embraced by the New Orleans community, and for the lasting relationships he cultivated within the Saints organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo the city of New Orleans: thank you. I had always heard, \u2018If you love New Orleans, New Orleans will love you back.\u2019 That could not have been more true,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou exceeded every expectation I had of what it would be like to live and play in a city. The passion, loyalty, and support you showed my family and me over these nine seasons were truly one of a kind. We will always be grateful for the way you embraced us both on and off the field!\u201d<\/p>\n
