{"id":626,"date":"2026-05-23T22:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-23T22:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=626"},"modified":"2026-05-23T22:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-23T22:36:09","slug":"byus-final-uncommitted-portal-departure-has-found-a-new-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=626","title":{"rendered":"BYU\u2019s final uncommitted portal departure has found a new home"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Since BYU\u2019s first round NCAA tournament loss to Texas, eight Cougars players with remaining eligibility have entered the transfer portal.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=624\">U.S., Utah leaders respond to civil rights leader Robert Woodson\u2019s death<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Only Rob Wright has withdrawn from the portal to stay at BYU, with each of the other seven players now having found new homes.<\/p>\n<p>The latest former Cougar to land elsewhere is guard Tyler Mrus, who announced his commitment to the Citadel Saturday via social media.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Tyler Mrus commits to The Citadel pic.twitter.com\/f08UlRyxfT<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Robby McCombs (@rtmccombs) May 23, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Mrus appeared in 27 games during his lone season at BYU, averaging 2.0 points and 0.9 rebounds while shooting 31% from the field.<\/p>\n<p>While he was a nearly 40% 3-point shooter at Idaho in 2024-25, Mrus couldn\u2019t find similar success in Provo, and will now play for his third school in three years.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/americanmovershub.com\/?p=622\">High school boys lacrosse: Redemption several years in the making, Park City beats Brighton to win 5A state championship<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aside from Mrus, Abdullah Ahmed (UMass), Aleksej Kostic (Northwestern), Dominique Diomande (Pitt), KJ Perry (Fresno State), Kennard Davis Jr. (Missouri) and Xavion Staton (Oregon State) have all committed to new programs after leaving BYU.<\/p>\n<p>As for BYU\u2019s additions from the portal, the Cougars have brought in four Power Five transfers \u2014 Collin Chandler (Kentucky), Tyler Betsey (Syracuse), Jake Wahlin (Clemson) and walk-on Adam Stewart (TCU) \u2014 along with incoming freshmen Bruce Branch III, Dean Rueckert and Brooks Bahr.<\/p>\n<p>Wright, Khadim Mboup and Dawson Baker are BYU\u2019s only returning players who logged minutes this past season.
