Green Canyon opened the 2026 season on Monday night with a statement victory at defending 6A state champion Syracuse.
The Wolves broke open a close game at the half with four goals in the second half in a dominant 5-0 victory.
A 4A quarterfinalist a year ago, Green Canyon returns every starter from 2025 and was the runaway choice by 4A’s coaches as the team to beat in 2026.
Eva Israelsen led the way for Green Canyon with two goals, while Kloey Tensmeyer and Jaycee Knight each added a goal and an assist as Britt Maw earned the shutout in goal.

Israelsen opened the scoring for the Wolves on an assist from Knight in a tight first half in the battle of contenders in their respective classification.
It didn’t take Green Canyon long to break the game wide open as Knight found the back of the net early in the second half on an assist from Chloe Sadler, last year’s Deseret News Ms. Soccer recipient.
Autumn Howell and Tensmeyer tacked on goals to stretch the lead to 4-0, with Israelsen wrapping up the scoring late in the game.
